History:
Because of a generous $50,000 donation from MOWAA’s partner, SPLENDA® Brand, our nation’s independence was not the only reason to celebrate July 4th, 2010. McNeil Nutritionals, LLC, the marketer of SPLENDA® Brand, and SPLENDA® Brand’s Signature Chef Katie Brown teamed up with Meals On Wheels programs in Los Angeles, Dallas, New York City and Chicago to deliver 10,000 slices of Splenda sweetened apple pie to hungry seniors on Independence Day. In addition to the initial $50,000 gift, SPLENDA® Brand contributed $5,000 to MOWAA after a successful campaign on Facebook. Over 25,000 virtual slices of pie were shared by SPLENDA® Brand fans and supporters of MOWAA in the interactive online campaign. Overall, SPLENDA® Brand gave a generous total of $55,000 to help MOWAA end senior hunger.
Impact:
Thanks to SPLENDA® Brand, Meals On Wheels programs received some sweet assistance in making their 2010 Fourth of July holiday meals extra special. MOWAA hopes to continue our partnership with SPLENDA® Brand in the future.
