Meals On Wheels Association of America Introduces
Senior Nutrition Navigator
Alexandria, VA, January 24, 2013 — Thanks to generous support from the Walmart Foundation, the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) is pleased to introduce the Senior Nutrition Navigator. The first of its kind resource provides seniors and their caregivers a comprehensive collection of easily accessible, credible resources that promote active, healthy aging; provide tips on healthy eating and good nutrition; and help seniors navigate the opportunities and challenges of aging by making healthy lifestyle choices.
"There is so much information out there, but what makes the Nutrition Navigator unique is its focus on the specific health and nutrition needs of seniors," said Larry J. Tomayko, Interim CEO of MOWAA. "We want to assist seniors by helping them with the resources they need to stay healthy and independent."
The Senior Nutrition Navigator is available here and provides older adults with information on healthy eating, healthy living and related issues such as accessing government benefits, elder abuse or caregiving. It is also a resource for the millions of caregivers and seniors served directly by Meals On Wheels programs.
The Senior Nutrition Navigator was created with support from the Walmart Foundation. Since 2008, the Walmart Foundation has been a partner with Meal On Wheels Association of America in the fight to end senior hunger.
