The National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging Introduces
"Momentum: Advancing into Future Readiness"

Alexandria, VA, January 15, 2013 - The National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging (NRC) introduces the next step in its multi-year cooperative agreement with the Administration on Aging (AoA) "Momentum: Advancing into Future Readiness." This newly developed series of events and discussions will provide aging network programs the platform for a future-focused dialogue around the critical link between nutrition and health in the context of our rapidly aging nation.

The goal of this series is to engage the larger aging network in an ongoing discussion to share knowledge and practice examples. The "Momentum" series begins February 12 with a webinar on the role of quality nutrition programs in the community led by Jean Lloyd, National Nutritionist with the Administration on Aging. Additional topics slated for "Momentum" range from nutritional guidelines to the role of nutrition programs in the larger home and community based services and health care systems.

"Senior Nutrition Programs provide a critical link in the healthcare system," remarked Linda Netterville, Vice President for Nutrition Program Innovations and Grants Management. "Our objective with the "Momentum" series is to bring the best people, the best minds and the best practices together to address that challenge. Together with our partners in the aging services network, the NRC hopes to demonstrate that nutrition is an integral part of supporting the health and independence of our aging population."

"Momentum" materials will also be an invaluable addition to the expanding NRC library which now includes the complete proceedings from the 2012 "Perspectives on Nutrition and Aging: A National Summit," the first of its kind gathering of nutrition and aging professionals. The library is a clearinghouse of resources for professionals in the nutrition and aging network, available to assist local meal providers with the resources needed to provide nutritious meals more efficiently now and in the future. Through the library, the NRC hopes to encourage information exchange, highlight emerging practices and help build connections and collaborations among those working in the senior nutrition field.
