At the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), we believe all moms deserve to feel special on Mother's Day. After discovering through research that the seniors most likely to be at risk of hunger are women under the age of 70, MOWAA launched the Meals for Moms campaign.

Starting in 2010, the Meals for Moms campaign began collecting thousands of e-cards and greeting cards for homebound senior moms which are then printed out and distributed by Meals On Wheels programs across the country. The cards included special messages written by the card creators. This year, we have expanded the campaign so that individuals could upload a video or photos, along with their personal Mother’s Day message. Visitors are still encouraged to send a message of hope to a homebound senior mom, or make a donation to help provide a meal to a hungry senior. Money raised from this campaign will help Meals On Wheels nationwide end senior hunger.

Meals for Moms Capitol Hill Event

On May 3, 2011, MOWAA made history by holding the first-ever Meals for Moms card-signing event on Capitol Hill. Almost 40 Members of Congress signed personal messages of hope on cards that were delivered to homebound seniors in their Congressional Districts.
