MOWAA Launches Emergency Response Fund
Alexandria, VA, December 5, 2012 - The Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) has instituted an Emergency Response Fund to better assist Member programs coping with crises that may affect their ability to serve seniors. Thanks to a generous contribution from the AARP Foundation, MOWAA established the fund to restore and strengthen programs impacted by disasters.
"When disasters strike, many seniors rely solely on their local Meals On Wheels program staff and volunteers to deliver hope in times of crisis," commented MOWAA interim CEO Larry J. Tomayko. "This Fund will provide a means of helping Meals On Wheels programs continue their vital service to some of our most vulnerable citizens, our seniors."
Emergency Response Funds can be made available to Member programs whose services are impacted by unforeseen events such as natural disasters. To learn more about the Emergency Response Fund click here.
